Editing A Connection Manually

If necessary, a VPN connection's configuration file can be edited manually. In some instances you may also be asked to provide a copy of your config file to support staff to help identify a problem. You can access and edit Viscosity's configuration files for your connection/s like so:

  1. Open the following location in the Finder on Mac:
    Your Home Folder/Library/Application Support/Viscosity/OpenVPN/
    or in Explorer on Windows:
  2. You should notice a folder for each of your connections. Open a folder to find the configuration file, named "config.conf"
  3. The configuration file can be opened with any text editor, such as the TextEdit or Notepad application. You can copy-paste your configuration to support staff if requested, or edit the configuration file.
  4. If you have made changes, save the file and then restart Viscosity (quit and reopen) to see the changes.
