Problem Using Viscosity
Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
Hi Viscosity developers,
I have a similar problem installing latest as of date, v1.10.1 and I have tried the "uninstalled , restart and re-install". After installation, there is the helper tool request which I allowed. Then, a pop-up of notification which I allowed. Unfortunately, after waiting for a long while, there is no sign of viscosity installed, no error for me to chew on. Checks from earlier advice in this thread shows nothing unusual.
FYI, I have a windows machine and that is working fine (with 3 VPN profiles running). This is a fresh install on my Mac v11.6.1 (big sur) running on macbook Air 2018 Intel core i5 with 16GB ram.
codesign -vvvv /Applications/Viscosity.app

Code: Select all
$ spctl --assess --verbose /Applications/Viscosity.app
/Applications/Viscosity.app: valid on disk
/Applications/Viscosity.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
Code: Select all
Any advice?/Applications/Viscosity.app: accepted

Hi nasri,
I've split your post into its own topic, as this doesn't sound like a code signature issue.
I recommend starting with the suggestions at the link below. Generally these types of issues are caused by security software, which the article covers.
https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/ar ... -not-start
Also make sure there are no old versions of Viscosity anywhere on the machine. Something we see out of date versions set to launch on startup, which get stuck, preventing the new version from running properly:

Please also keep in mind Viscosity does not appear in the dock. You can find Viscosity's icon in the menu bar (typically near the clock).
Finally, if you're still stuck, more information may be available in the Console:

Cheers,
James
