Service not starting 1.8.6
Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
Hello,
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and Viscosity 1.8.6 registered version (just downloaded from the website). It does not connect but complains that the service is not started. Answered yes to start the service and the same repeats. Viscosity used to work for years but some recent update broke it. I do not have a recent older version to try but I did have a 1.6.3 (1444) which works perfectly. I would very much prefer a version 1.8.5 or maybe .4 to try. Thanks!
P.S. I followed the guide to the service not staring error. Uninstalled Viscosity and reinstalled, no change. In windows services when trying to start the service manually it just says the service started but stopped immediately after. At msconfig it always says the service is stopped.
I am not using any antivirus or similar on this machine.

Hello,
Thanks for the event viewer tip. Turned out that event log viewer did not work as the service for that crashed to some error. After I managed to get the event log viewer service to work, Viscosity service started working too. Very weird. So as a tip to other users, if you get the service not starting error, check that the event log viewer works as well.
