I was wondering if you have any plans to go open source? I feel like you could make more money off this going open source then if you just leave it how it is right now. Because there are tons of people who want to use it, but don't because it's closed source. I myself would be willing to donate 10$ if it was open source. I'm sure there are a lot more people out there that would be willing to because lets face it. It's pretty much the best looking OpenVPN software out there. Not being open source is holding it back.
Hi summoner23,
Thanks for your feedback - much appreciated.
I'm afraid we have no plans at this stage to open source Viscosity. However one thing we've always wanted to do is to give Viscosity a more of a "plugin style" architecture, thereby allowing VPN protocols to become self-contained plugins. These plugins could in turn be open sourced, while the Viscosity GUI maintains its commercial aspect. This would allow for those interested to view the source for things like the OpenVPN implementation, and also allow for customise or add new VPN protocols. This is something we hope to achieve in a future version of Viscosity.
Cheers,
James
