Hello,
Lately whenever I start up Viscosity after my computer wakes up after a sleep state, when connecting to the VPN I'll get an 'Incorrect username and password error' message pop-up window on the desktop. If I just dismiss it, the connection will succeed without errors. This is a true annoyance, even because Viscosity's log message doesn't reveal anything that might be the problem. I've removed the old username/password entries in the keychain, but that hasn't changed the behavior. I'm using the latest version of Viscosity on macOS Mojave (10.14.6).

Cheers,
Angelo

Hi Angelo,

Viscosity will display such an alert if the OpenVPN server sends an "AUTH_FAILED" message. More information about why the message is being sent may be available in the connection log (please see the link below), but you'll likely need to view the server's log (or ask your IT administrator to) to see why your first attempt is getting rejected.

If I had to guess, I'd say either some form of two-factor authentication is involved, or the OpenVPN server isn't set up to handle session/auth tokens correctly.

Cheers,
James
