Hi James:

First - Alternate DNS support is broken for me in Snow Leppy. Dunno if it's an issue or important, but connections with a dns server and search domain specified break.

A feature request - I'd like the option to set DNS search domains and DNS servers as additive instead of whole-replace. I frequently connect to multiple clients who use their own split-horizon DNS and find that viscosity replaces my DNS and search domains with only those of the most recent connection profile that pushes that info, or injects a dummy default domain if none is specified. Is it possible to have a checkbox that treats search domains (and potentially DNS servers themselves) as additive entries to the resolver instead of whole-replace?

Cheers.

James

Yes, I've been getting a few reports of this. At the moment it's not a priority problem as Viscosity 1.1's DNS system has been completely overhauled, and so this shouldn't be an issue. The default DNS method (the recommend approach) appears to be working correct under the current build of Mac OS 10.6.

This is already in place in the current internal build of Viscosity 1.1. Hopefully a public build will be available in a couple of weeks for people to test out (and see what they can break :) ). Viscosity's DNS system in version 1.1 is significantly advanced over previous versions and makes full use of Mac OS X's resolver system.

Cheers,
James
