It's probable that you'll also need to change the port number as well. You're best sending the error message to your VPN provider (along with some screenshots of your connection setup) and asking them if any settings need to be changed.

You'll need to have a play with the "Ping" and "Ping-restart" fields, which are under the Options tab when editing your connection in Viscosity. For example, try setting a Ping value of 10, and a Ping-restart value of 3600.
