Yep, it appears to be working now --- what was wrong?

Thanks so much for addressing the problem so quickly.

Hello Eric,
We have a similar issue that the beta version fixes. I'm trying to build a setup executable for distribution. Can I get a copy of the beta so I can put it into the setup.exe that I'm creating. As it is, each client has to install and then go click that update button on the general tab.
Thank you!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

We're expecting to release 1.6.3 this week. We don't recommend distributing a beta release to a broader user base.

Hi Eric,
I have this exact same problem on the latest version (1.6.4) for Windows. The log is the same, which is as follows:

May 27 1:03:16 PM: State changed to Connecting
May 27 1:03:16 PM: Viscosity Windows 1.6.4 (1448)
May 27 1:03:18 PM: Running on Microsoft Windows 8.1
May 27 1:03:18 PM: Bringing up interface...
May 27 1:03:20 PM: Checking reachability status of connection...
May 27 1:03:20 PM: Connection is reachable. Starting connection attempt.

The OpenVPN subsystem could not be started. Please check the following:
- Check for any error messages above this notification.
- Ensure ViscosityService is running.
- Make sure the configuration is valid

May 27 1:03:26 PM: State changed to Disconnected

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

And please note that this only happens when I log in to Windows. It works fine if I manually connect it.

Hi ViscUser111,

This is a different problem. I assume you have a Connection set to connect when Viscosity Opens, is this correct? After this failure, do you have a stuck OpenVPN process in Task Manager?

Hi Eric,

The issue seems to be gone now. After a couple of restarts, it started connecting as it should. And yes I've had it to connect automatically when it opens and I couldn't see anything wrong in Task Manager, so I have no idea what was causing it. But it seems to be all good now.

Will definitely be purchasing Viscosity if it continues to run smoothly, so much better than the PIA app :) Cheers.
