I've been using Viscosity for awhile, but have always had this problem. I don't really know anything about VPNs, so maybe I'm misunderstanding something.

I leave my computer on and connected to the VPN so my database program can update while I"m away from the computer. But pretty much any time I come to my computer, Viscosity status is no longer "connected/green" but "connecting/orange." But it's not really in the process of connecting, because it just stays in that orange "connecting" state, and never connects. My database just throws an error because it can't connect. To get it to work, I then have to choose "disconnect" and then "connect" to get Viscosity back to connected/green.

Is the VPN not meant to stay connected all the time? If it is, why does mine keep getting stuck connecting and how can I fix this? FRUSTRATING. Help?

Hi Rob,

Have a look at the OpenVPN log as this will tell you what is going on - http://www.sparklabs.com/support/viewin ... penvpn_log

Most likely the problem though is your connection is dropping out due to a misconfigured ping or ping-restart value. You will need to contact your VPN Provider to have this checked and setup correctly. If you are unsure who your VPN Provider is, please see the following - http://sparklabs.com/support/how_do_i_f ... o_my_vpn_p
