The instructions for preconfiguring Viscosity don't seem to work.

If I put files in Viscosity.app/Contents/Preconfigure/Profiles/1/

then Viscosity hangs when I run it for the first time, with the following error in the syslog

Dec 4 15:33:01 tuna Viscosity[8818]: <type 'exceptions.OSError'>: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/Users/test/Library/Application Support/Viscosity/OpenVPN'

if I put files in Viscosity.app/Contents/Preconfigure/<blah>/

then Viscosity runs, but the preconfigured connection doesn't appear to get imported.

Preconfiguring the plist file works fine.

Any ideas?

We've had a few users run into permission issues that cause this error. The latest build of Viscosity contains extra checks throughout the preconfigure process to work around this. Your welcome to download and use the latest build from:

Thanks, that build works fine with the "profiles" method. The other way doesn't seem to work.

Good to hear

Yes, the original beta-release method was phased out (as it was a mess to throw the profiles and preferences into the same directory). Using the Profiles folder is the correct way to go for 1.0+ releases.
