Hello!

I have a problem with the connection. Maybe you can suggest a solution other than using applesсript.

There is a corporate VPN server. It is very stable and always pinged.

After you create a connection to me become available domestic resources to address other than the address of the server. For example: server 100.100.100.100; internal address: 10.10.10.10.

Because of some strange problems (is not it), the connection is broken and I can not ping the internal address. In this case the server address is available.

Command ping-restart - does not work because ping server.

After connection for me become available internal resources with other addresses than the address of the server. For example: server 100.100.100.100; internal address: 10.10.10.10.

Because of some strange problems the tunnel is broken and I can not ping the internal address. The server address is available.

Command ping-restart - does not work because server is ok (ping).

Is it possible to specify the internal address for ping with the reaction to it (restart)?

Thank you in advance!

James

Hi arozjankov,

OpenVPN's ping functionality doesn't actually create ICMP ping packets, rather it sends control packets between the OpenVPN client and server to make sure that the VPN connection is still up and active. It's not possible to cause this to poll anything else.

I recommend checking if something else is amiss. As it sounds like your VPN connection is still active and working, but you lose access to certain resources through the VPN connection, your best bet is to make sure nothing is breaking your VPN connection's routes after a period of time. You can refer to the article linked below for how to check this client-side. Unfortunately checking that everything is okay server side would have to be done by your VPN Administrator.
