Hi,

we have a volume license for Viscosity and we have team macs with multiple users.
Is ist possible to activate one user (with our volume key) and every new user is already activated?

best

Hi Christian,

It sounds like you're trying to register Viscosity for all users on a multi-user machine? If so, you have a few options available:

1. To register Viscosity for all existing users on a machine you can setup Viscosity under one user and then copy Viscosity's Preferences file from this user's account to all other accounts on the machine. This will also work for connections in Viscosity's Application Support folder as well if desired. If you don't want to copy any connections it's recommended that you remove any from Viscosity and then quitting before copying the preferences file (to prevent "ghost" connections).

For information on where these files are located please see:

2. To register Viscosity for new users logging into a machine for the first time you can copy Viscosity's preferences file to the macOS template user instead. This process is the same as above, except instead you'll need to copy the file/s to "/System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/". You'll need to log in as the root user to do this, or you can use a command like:
Code: Select all
sudo cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.viscosityvpn.Viscosity.plist /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences/
3. If these are managed machines, management tools like Casper will allow you to manage Preferences and files shared amount users and for new user accounts.

Cheers,
James
