Unable to use DNS from the remote site
Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
I started to use viscosity since some 1.5.x release...
Since some 1.6.x release i started to have problems that after establishment of VPN conection, the local DNS was still used (instead of the DNS from the remote site). I solved this quickly by explicitly setting "FULL DNS".
But since 1.6.2-1.6.3 "FULL DNS " does not help anymore, the DNS resolver and nslookup still contacts the DNS from local site. This haeppens always, I played with all reasonable viscosity network settings ... nothing helped.
Tunneblick has not this problem (the same connection - actually the viscosity connection was imported from tunneblick one) the remote DNS is assigned properly so I stopped to use the viscosity and temporarily (?) returned to use tunneblick ...
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi rvargic,
I recommend checking the OpenVPN log to see if there are any warnings or errors and that the correct DNS mode is being used:
http://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/art ... envpn-log/
I also recommend checking that your DNS settings and domains are being correctly applied:
http://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/art ... being-used
Finally, please see this note regarding the use of nslookup and other legacy Unix tools:

Cheers,
James
