Viscosity Helper Tool Installation hangs under 10.11.4
Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
After a fresh install of 10.11.4 on my MBP I can't get the Viscosity Helper Tool to install, the installation simply hangs after I hit the "Install" button in the message window that informs me that Viscosity has detected that it needs to install or update its helper tool. To be precise, the install hangs after I enter the admin password for privileged installation.
- Restarting the MAC does not help
- I am running Little Snitch, but stopping the network filter (i.e. no firewall) makes no difference
- I am running Anti-Virus, but its local firewall is switched off by default (in favour of Little Snitch)
- I am running Cisco AnyConnect, however, this combination has worked flawlessly in the past
- /var/log/system.log is not showing anything unusual related Viscosity
Any hints on how to troubleshoot this issue would be highly appreciated.

Hi zero0cool,
Please try doing a full uninstall using the instructions linked below and then restart your computer. While restarting is annoying, it is essential to clear Mac OS X's preferences and security cache. Once uninstalled please try installing Viscosity again.

The installation of Viscosity's helper is handled entirely by Mac OS X - it's something that Viscosity itself has very little control of. This means that when something goes wrong there is little Viscosity can do from its end, however it typically points to a permissions issue with either the /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools and/or /Library/LaunchDaemons directories.
Cheers,
James
